30 days in your journal

Spent some time last weekend looking at videos from CHA Winter 2012 in Anaheim. Love getting a look at the new products and techniquesout. Paper Clippings did a great job. Because of one of their videos, I found my way to Julie Fei-Fan Balzer's blog and her "30 days in your journal - a class in the daily practice of art journaling" (check out link in the sidebar).

Love, love, LOVE all the new stencils available from The Crafter's Workshop including Julie's and Dyan Reavley's dylusions line (including the nummy colours of her ink sprays!) and what she does with her art journals.

Really gave me a creative boost and has me back experimenting in my art journals. The class will give me daily inspiration and I hope that 30 days from now, I have some fun pages to show for it.

first post of 2011...

...wow, really? Well, it has been quite an eventful 2011 so far but now is not the time to get into it.

At present we are cheering on our Canucks as they battle for the Stanley Cup!

something fun and creative to start the year...

After enjoying Mary Ann Moss's "Remains of the Day" online class between Christmas and New Year's last year, I went on line looking for something to do this year. I came across this class through Teesha's blog post.

So, I thought I would give Carla Sonheim's "Art of Silliness" a try. Looks like fun and a good way to play every day for a month. If you are interested, you can find the info for the class here.

a disneyland christmas

goodbye, nana (1919-2010)

March 2009 - Nana's 90th birthday

On the evening of December 21, my wonderful Nana peacefully passed away. Stephen, Wesley and I had just had a visit with her the previous weekend while on Vancouver Island.

Nana, your fabulous "Nana-hugs" will live on!

journalfest 2010

what a great way to spend a few days (especially when one's birthday falls right in the middle)...

so was journalfest 2010...another wonderful teesha and tracy moore art retreat held at fort worden in port townsend, wa.

along with us regulars - janice, ty and marcia, and me...andrew joined in on the fun and became the newest member of house 9E.

all three classes were terrific! first there was roxanne padgett with her painted pocket journals. we painted and stencilled fabric with gay abandon. then we turned our fabric into two fun little journals.

next up was liesel lund and her fabulous travelling pocket journal. there was only six of us in the class plus liesel. it was a really fun, fun day. the energy was playful and light. thanks for setting the tone, liesel...and loved the end result!

last but by no means least, was ingrid dijkers and another one of her fabulous creations...a tunnel book - "through the rabbit hole"...with ty and marcia. I continue to enjoy working on this project since getting home. love the tenniel images and the whole structure and feel of the book. i have only begun to start doodling and there is still more collage and journalling to follow.

the masquerade party was also fun...the band surrealized was in the house.
